INFECTIOUS DISEASE TESTING / DONOR SCREENING

CCBC performs serological testing to include anti-HIV- 1, anti-HIV- 2, anti-HCV, anti-HBsAg, anti-HTLV I/II, anti-HBc, Chagas Disease, Syphilis, and CMV.

Viral marker testing is done by NAT, a molecular technique that is highly sensitive and specific for viral nucleic acids for HIV, HBV, HCV, and West Nile Virus.

Additionally, a Blood Type (ABO/Rh), Antibody Screen and Sickle Cell testing are performed.
Each assay meets industry standards for whole blood, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate. Custom panels are available upon request for referring client laboratories.

IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY REFERENCE CONSULTATION SERVICES

CCBC’s Immunohematology Reference Laboratory can assist hospitals in solving patient antibody identification problems, blood typing, RBC phenotyping/genotyping and can provide antigen matched blood for transfusion. Antibody titers may be performed upon request.

Our IRL recently added the use of DTT to resolve panreactivity caused by anti-CD38 in patients being treated with daratumumab (DARA) thus avoiding delays in routine compatibility testing.

HLA molecular typing, antibody identification and locating HLA matched products for patients is coordinated through our IRL and resource labs.
