Meet Gavin
Jennifer Reda was just four months pregnant when she and her husband Landon received life-changing news. Their baby, Gavin, had a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot or TOF, a rare condition that affects only 1 in every 2,518 babies born each year.
Shortly after his birth, Gavin faced two critical open-heart surgeries. The first was at just 22 days old on Valentine’s Day and the second at age four. After his second surgery, doctors discovered a malfunctioning heart valve. To avoid another major surgery, they decided to replace the valve laparoscopically, using a minimally invasive procedure.
Thanks to timely care and the generosity of blood donors, Gavin has continued to thrive. He is an energetic and outgoing child who loves spending time with family and friends and never misses a chance for a good dance party.
