Meet Tony
In 2013, Tony Sosa’s life changed forever after a devastating collision with a semi truck during heavy fog conditions. The crash left him with severe injuries, including a broken femur, broken tibia, punctured lung, broken ribs, and massive blood loss. His condition was critical, and he was placed in a coma as medical teams worked to save his life.
During the most critical moments of his care, blood transfusions played a vital role in keeping Tony alive. The availability of donated blood gave doctors the resources they needed to stabilize his condition and support his recovery.
Looking back on his experience, Tony understands just how important blood donors are to patients facing life threatening situations.
“Without blood donors, my life would look so much different. One person can change someone’s life.”
Thanks to the generosity of blood donors, Tony was able to recover and continue living the life he loves. Today, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, DJing at community events, and giving back to his community as an ambassador for the Central California Blood Center.
His experience has inspired him to become a strong advocate for blood donation. Tony regularly encourages others to donate and to learn more about the process by asking questions and seeking information.
“Your blood saves lives, and it saved me. Now I make sure to donate when I can and help educate people about the importance of blood donation. Never be afraid to ask questions. The more people understand how donation works, the more lives we can save.”
Tony’s story is a powerful reminder that blood donation is more than a simple act. It is a gift that gives patients a second chance at life. Because blood was available when he needed it most, Tony is here today sharing his story and encouraging others to help save lives through blood donation.
